Rafuchakkar

June 18, 2023

Jio Studios has produced a new crime drama directed by Ritam Srivastav and written by Arjun Singgh Baran and Kartik Nishandar. The series features Maniesh Paul as Pawan aka Prince, Priya Bapat as Ritu Arora, Aakash Dahiya as Jaidev, Chahat Vig as Preeti Gogia, and other notable actors. Pawan, a con man targeting women, gets arrested but escapes due to lack of evidence. Will the courtroom drama expose his crimes or will he evade justice?

Each episode, with a runtime of about 40 minutes, reveals a different con by Prince in a new identity and city. While similar to other stories about con artists, Rafuchakkar lacks standout moments and fails to build suspense. The series can be watched for the unfolding plot, but it lacks a wow factor.

The biggest drawback is the mundane narrative, where the conman easily deceives people without much effort. The screenplay lacks wit and technical brilliance that would captivate viewers. There isn’t enough build up to the final con like we in the movies; Ocean’s Eleven or BBC’s Hustle series. Even the courtroom drama fails to engage the audience.

If its on OTT, Raven is always ready to binge on it and give his personal feedback regarding how good or bad is the show. Luckily we have saved lots of hours and trauma due to his strong and harsh feedback feedback.
