Class (2023)

February 7, 2023

Bodhitree Multimedia’s highly anticipated web series, Class, is now available on Netflix. With a cast of talented newcomers, the series has received positive reviews and has quickly become a fan favorite. Class is also Netflix’s first Indian adaptation of an international title.

When Netflix released Elite in 2018, it became a sensation. The Spanish drama, which explored the disparity between social classes in an elite school, was compared to the popular American show Gossip Girl. However, it also dealt with important issues like racism, gender equality, sexuality, and the current social and political environment. The Indian adaptation of Elite, titled Class, follows the same premise.

The first episode opens with what appears to be a murder, and then flashbacks to the story of three main characters – Saba, Balli, and Dheeraj. These outsiders must penetrate the snobbish upper-class society at the elite Hamptons school, where students compete for followers and likes on their Instagram accounts.

Class is well-written and expertly cast, with comparisons to Elite inevitable. However, if these comparisons are put aside, the viewer is in for a treat. The writing and casting are top-notch, with the actors accurately depicting the two opposing sides of high school life. Showrunner Ashim Ahluwalia has successfully adapted the concept of Elite to fit Indian cultural struggles.

The show’s success is due in part to its clever pop culture references and well-written dialogues. The music and background score also play important roles in making the show feel cool. From the stylish visuals to the disparity between the characters, everything feels authentic and real.

If its on OTT, Raven is always ready to binge on it and give his personal feedback regarding how good or bad is the show. Luckily we have saved lots of hours and trauma due to his strong and harsh feedback feedback.
