Crew (2024)

Crew, which touched down on March 29, 2024, is the kind of fizzy, fabulous chick-flick Bollywood’s been begging for—a high-flying romp that’s equal parts glitzy and giggle-inducing. Directed by Rajesh A. Krishnan and backed by a dream team including Ektaa R. Kapoor and Rhea Kapoor, this heist comedy straps you in with three stellar leading ladies—Tabu, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Kriti Sanon—and takes off into a world of midair mischief and gold-smuggling shenanigans. It’s not groundbreaking cinema, but it’s a total blast, the perfect girls’-night-in pick that’ll have you laughing, cheering, and maybe even plotting your own caper by the end.

The story’s a hoot: Geeta (Tabu), Jasmine (Kareena), and Divya (Kriti) are flight attendants for the crumbling Kohinoor Airlines, where paychecks are as rare as a smooth landing in turbulence. When fate tosses them a chance to swipe some smuggled gold, these gals trade their tray tables for a wild scheme, juggling sass, smarts, and a little moral wiggle room. The script, penned by Nidhi Mehra and Mehul Suri, keeps it light and zippy, serving up a cocktail of witty one-liners (“Adarshon se bill nahi bharte!”) and slapstick moments that land smoother than a 747 on autopilot. Sure, the second half dips a bit with some rushed plotting, but the fun never fully stalls.

The real jet fuel here is the trio of leading ladies, who soar in every scene. Kareena Kapoor Khan is a riot as Jasmine, dripping with glam and delivering zingers with that Bebo sparkle—she’s the friend who’d convince you to crash a party and steal the cake. Tabu, as Geeta, is the cool, collected queen of the crew, balancing middle-class woes with a wicked streak that makes you adore her even more. And Kriti Sanon’s Divya? She’s the sporty, spunky underdog who nails the physical gags and holds her own next to these icons. Their chemistry is electric—think Charlie’s Angels with more sequins and better snacks—making every heist moment a total mood-lifter. Add Diljit Dosanjh’s flirty customs officer and Kapil Sharma’s bumbling husband cameo, and you’ve got a supporting cast that’s pure icing on this delicious cake.

Visually, Crew is a treat—Saurabh Dagupta’s cinematography gives it that glossy, chick-flick sheen, with luxe plane cabins and Al Burj skylines popping off the screen. The soundtrack, from “Choli Ke Peeche” remixes to “Naina,” is a banger playlist you’ll be humming for days—perfect for a movie that’s all about living your best life, even if it’s a little shady. The heist itself? It’s not Ocean’s Eleven, but it’s got enough twists and turns to keep you hooked, plus a finale that’s as satisfying as nailing a group selfie on the first try.

Crew isn’t here to change the world—it’s here to make you laugh, root for its badass babes, and maybe dream of a girls’ trip with a side of mischief. It’s an above-average romp, clocking in at 3.5 out of 5 stars, that nails the chick-flick vibe with sass and sparkle. Grab your besties, pop some popcorn, and let this joyride take you up, up, and away—it’s the kind of fun that reminds you girls really do just wanna have fun, and then some!

Had there been no cinema, then this SharmaJiKaLadka would have died long ago. Out of food, sex and cinema this guy would always choose Cinema even if he would die virgin due to starvation.
